Supporting healthcare initiatives in East Africa has been a big focus for the Foundation, which is why we were delighted that our Founder and Chairman, Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL, was invited to talk about our work in the region at the UK East Africa Health Summit.
The international health summit was held at the British Medical Association’s HQ in London and brought global leaders together from many African nations, alongside NHS leaders, to look at solutions to improving the healthcare of East African communities and strengthening private sector engagement in the region, post covid-19.
Dr Nik delivered a rousing speech on global communities’ healthcare needs, where he showcased our work to provide an oxygen generator and ambulance to a 50-bed Ugandan hospital, funding to build a playground for refugee children fleeing conflict and the providing of safe clean water and sanitation for 3,000 people in Zambia and Uganda.
A video we created with artist Rekesh Chauhan, called ‘Feel So Alone’, to help those struggling with mental health related issues was also shown, as part of the international conference.
