IMET 2000

The Randal Charitable Foundation is a proud supporter of IMET 2000.

The International Medical Education Trust (IMET 2000) works in areas of extreme deprivation, refugee camps and war zones in the Middle East,Europe, Africa and Asia.

They provide specialised training for psychiatrists, physicians, surgeons, nurses and allied professionals in primary trauma care, notably war wounds and burns, rehabilitation and the mental health of children and adolescents.

IMET2000 believes that a learning model must be continuously updated and based around the carefully identified needs of individual countries. The charity’s work addresses needs in global healthcare by facilitating lifelong learning and continuous professional development (CPD) for all working in the health sector. It also encourages, facilitates and supports financially clinical audit and clinical research.

The Charity also facilitate multidisciplinary teamwork between doctors, nurses, dentists, paramedics, community health workers and allied health professionals. And focus on more care in the community rather than expensive hospitals, as well as furthering public health awareness and preventative medicine.

Other important focus areas include; patient-centred learning, improvements in maternal health and providing scholarships for under and post graduate students facing extreme hardship.

In 2021, the Randal Charitable Foundation provided grant funding for the purchase of a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser Ambulance, the complete renovation of the original Toyota Hiace Ambulance, and for medicine procurement at Herona Hospital. Herona Hospital now has the two ambulances, and the Land Cruiser is mostly used for essential outreach services – making regular visits to distant rural villages. While the older ambulance is on regular stand-by for road accidents and emergency transport of sick patients.
