The Randal Foundation grant funding will be used by Endless Medical Advantage (EMA) to deliver essential healthcare services in rural, war-torn areas around Damascus. Following an in-depth assessment, close coordination with local partners and based on years of experience, EMA knows how to best address the most pressing healthcare gaps identified on the ground.
A significant portion of the funding will support targeted medical missions. These missions will focus on two critical and often neglected areas: women’s health and cardiac conditions in men. Operating in remote locations, these missions will provide vital screening, assessment, and treatment to individuals who currently lack access to basic healthcare. This proactive approach is crucial for the early detection and prevention of conditions that would otherwise go undiagnosed or be identified at a late, more complicated stage.
The other key component of this project is the establishment of a second physiotherapy practice in rural Damascus. The years of conflict have led to a marked increase in disability, not only from direct war injuries but also from a breakdown in the healthcare system and poor pre-natal care. EMA’s new physiotherapy practice will provide essential rehabilitation services, helping service users regain mobility and independence, thereby improving their quality of life.
The entire project is designed for long-term sustainability and impact. By working with local staff and stakeholders, we are not simply providing short-term aid; we are contributing to the rebuilding of a collapsed health sector from the ground up. EMA’s locally led approach, centred on early detection, prevention, and rehabilitation, will strengthen community resilience and reduce the long-term healthcare burden for the population.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Randal Foundation for their generous support, which is vital in enabling us to deliver our work in rural Damascus. This grant comes at a crucial time, allowing us to not only provide immediate, life-saving medical care through our missions but also to build long-term, sustainable healthcare access in the region. The funding will be instrumental in helping our locally led teams provide essential physiotherapy and medical services, strengthening community resilience and ensuring a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those we serve.” Dr Feras Alghadban, co-founder and Medical Director of EMA
