The Randal Foundation is proud to support Smile Star in their mission of delivering free, high-quality dental and medical care to underserved communities across Africa and India. Smile Star’s humanitarian teams work in regions where access to even the most basic healthcare is extremely limited, and where preventable dental pain, infection and untreated disease have profound impacts on daily life, education and economic opportunity.
Smile Star will use the funding to purchase essential clinical instruments and equipment required to expand the charity’s mobile treatment capabilities. These resources will allow their volunteer clinicians to carry out safe, effective procedures including extractions, emergency dentistry, infection control, wound management, health screening and preventive care programmes. High-quality instruments not only increase the volume of patients who can be treated during outreach missions but also ensure that care is delivered to standards equal to those expected in fully equipped practices.
In Africa, the donation will support ongoing programmes in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique and Sierra Leone, enabling the charity to reach remote rural communities where no dental or medical services exist. In India, the equipment will enhance Smile Star’s work through the LP Badiani Hospital in Gujarat, strengthening its ability to provide continuous dental and medical support to families who otherwise face significant barriers to care.
By improving clinical capacity, the Randal Foundation’s support will directly contribute to reducing pain, preventing complications and improving long-term health outcomes for thousands of patients. It will also empower Smile Star’s training initiatives, allowing local healthcare workers and volunteers to gain hands-on experience using appropriate instruments in safe, supervised conditions.
