Child.Org International

The Randal Foundation is pleased to support Child.Org International.

Child.org exists to make pregnancy and birth safer for women and infants in Kenya. They work with pregnant women, community health workers, and health government officials to reduce preventable maternal and new born deaths through community-based solutions. These solutions, such as Pregnant Women’s Groups, tackle challenges like low health literacy, limited access to healthcare, and harmful socio-cultural beliefs and practices to provide women with the information and tools they need to keep themselves and their babies alive, safe and healthy.

With the Randal Foundation’s support, Child.org will deliver 60 antenatal community clinic outreaches in Narok County over a 12-month period, reaching an estimated 6,000 women with life-saving care. These mobile clinics will bring vital services directly to pregnant women in underserved, hard-to-reach communities. Their services offered include free ultrasounds, bloodwork, antenatal care (ANC) profiling, peer support, and essential health education so that women are better informed about their and their babies health. Each outreach strengthens links between pregnant women, community health workers, and local clinics, supporting earlier and safer engagement with crucial maternal health services. They expect to reach approximately 6,000 pregnant women and estimate that the service will save the lives of 132 babies and 21 mothers.

In the long term, they aim to see antenatal outreaches embedded within Narok County’s reproductive health strategy, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare remains a major barrier. By bringing these services directly to communities, the model reduces the need for long, costly travel, and supports earlier engagement with antenatal care. The outreaches also strengthen local health systems by temporarily upskilling facility staff and generating real-time feedback from women and health workers to inform planning. Ultimately, they aim to demonstrate a cost-effective, scalable model for antenatal care that can be adopted by county health authorities in Narok and beyond.

Quote from Karen Stephenson, Trustee

“We are incredibly grateful to the Randal Foundation for their generous support. Grant funding like this is absolutely vital to Child.org’s work – it allows us to reach more pregnant women in remote communities with life-saving maternal and infant health services. This support will ensure more mothers and their babies survive pregnancy and childbirth, and strengthen health systems in remote communities of Kenya.”
