Great Western Air Ambulance

The Randal Charitable Foundation proudly supports the Great Western Air Ambulance.

The Great Western Air Ambulance’s Critical Care Team stand ready to save the lives of local people.

They provide emergency care to those who are in a state so critical that they require the specialist skills of their team at the scene of the accident or medical incident.

Although they are part of the regional 999 response service and work closely with NHS hospitals; the Great Western Air Ambulance (GWAAC) is a charity entirely funded by local people.

GWAAC saves lives across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire.

They don’t simply fly people to the nearest hospital. Their priority is to get to the patient fast. They treat people at the scene, on the road and in the air, providing complex interventions to stablise and treat the patient and give them the best chance of a positive outcome.

The service they provide is reliant on their brilliant team of pilots, advanced and specialist paramedics, and consultant doctors who specialise in pre-hospital care.

Without the help of the public, they would not be able to carry out their life saving work. It is from the generous support they receive from the public, which allows the charity to keep the air ambulance going, so their team can keep saving lives.

In 2022 the Randal Charitable Foundation provided grant funding for the provision of blood and plasma supplies to those in an emergency for a year.
