Health

Each year millions of people in lower and middle income countries die needlessly from conditions which could be treated by high quality health systems.

The Randal Charitable Foundation is passionate about supporting charities that are working towards the relief of sickness, as well as the preservation and protection of good health in the UK and globally.

The Developing World

The advancement of primary and secondary healthcare in lower and middle income countries is a particular focus for the Foundation.

Research from the Lancet Global Health Commission on High Quality Health Systems found that in 2018 over 5 million adults and children died because local health systems were insufficient.

Little or no access to simple medical treatments and medication, or the right mobility equipment also leaves many people in the developing world with no choice but to live with needless health disorders or disability.

Other communities have limited access to clean water, proper sanitation or good hygiene standards, which facilitates the ongoing cycle of poor health and reduced life-expectancy.

Supporting refugees living in makeshift camps, which often lack even the most basic of amenities, healthcare and provisions, is also an area of interest.

The United Kingdom

In the UK, the Foundation works with a wide-range of organisations to help people whose health is at serious risk through no fault of their own.

Examples of this include our support for organisations that delivered food and medicines during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as aiding elderly patients' recovery after leaving hospital by providing funding for home care.

The Foundation is also focussed on working with UK based organisations to improve the quality of people’s lives by ensuring they receive the healthcare they require. This takes many forms, including support for critical illness and funding to help people with a disability, or those suffering isolation and loneliness.
