Helping Hands

The Helping Hands Community Trust is supported by the Randal Charitable Foundation

The Helping Hands Community Trust specialises in providing free independent advice; focussed on tackling the underlying causes of poverty, deprivation and isolation.

The charity’s aim is to re-inject confidence and empowerment to help individuals in Leicestershire regain self-respect and control, as well as increasing quality of life by delivering ongoing support.

The Trust has been operating for over 20 years and is administered by a board of 8 volunteer trustee directors, drawn from a cross-section of the community, professional backgrounds and service users. They are supported by a team of paid and volunteer staff.

A focus of the Trust is identifying and assisting the needs of the most vulnerable, who may be unable to engage due to social exclusion, or may have multi-facetted and complex needs.

The Randal Charitable Foundation has given two grants – the first taking place in 2019 – and funding legal advice support

for those who are unable to obtain it, particularly people suffering with mental health issues. The second grant took place in 2020 to support the charity’s work through the Covid-19 pandemic.

The areas where the charity offers services include: problems relating to benefits, welfare rights, money management, housing issues, advocacy, legal advice, family law, mental health support, education, training and employment. The Trust also provides advice and practical support to victims of domestic abuse and ex-offenders.
