Magic Bus

The Randal Charitable Foundation supports Magic Bus.

Using sport, play and mentoring as their tools, Magic Bus UK is putting India’s most marginalised children and young people on the path from childhood to livelihood.

Over 30% of the world’s poorest children live in India and more than 115 million children and young people face extreme poverty, every day of their lives.

On their journey from childhood to livelihood, the children learn the skills that will help them succeed in school, become empowered to avoid child marriage and child labour, find a secure job, and leave poverty behind for good.

Right now, Magic Bus is working with over 375,000 children and 30,000 young people across India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

In 2020 the Randal Charitable Foundation provided funding to the Childhood to Livelihood Programme. This will be used for the provision of education to children in the Rangpur District of Bangladesh.

The charity work meets 5 important milestones, starting with Life Skills Education: Teaching children and young people skills like teamwork, problem-solving, learning to learn, and communication skills that will help them face life’s challenges and threats like child marriage.

Education Enhancement: Helping children improve their basic literacy and numeracy, so that they can get the most out of their education and succeed in school.

Employability Skills Education: Teaching children and young people skills like spoken English, financial & digital literacy, and providing career counselling to help prepare them for the workplace.

Livelihood Connect: Help young people find jobs in the Retail, IT, Banking, Financial Services, Insurance and E-Commerce industries, and provide post-employment support to help stay employed.

And finally, Community Connect: Engaging with parents and local communities to help them continue to support the dreams and aspirations of their children.
