OCD Action

The Randal Charitable Foundation proudly supports OCD Action.

OCD Action is the UK’s largest Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) charity, with over 25 years of experience delivering frontline services.

The charity’s services aim to make a tangible and long-term difference in the lives of people with OCD, their families, carers, and friends. They envision a future where OCD is well understood, and everyone receives the treatment and support they need when they need it.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is the term given to a recognized condition that causes individuals to become trapped in a cycle of distressing obsessions and compulsions. OCD is a highly debilitating and often misunderstood condition, leading many to conceal it for years or even decades. The charity estimates that 1 to 2% of the UK population suffers from OCD.

The encouraging news is that OCD is a treatable condition, with both therapy and medication available to assist in management and recovery. The charity advocates for swift diagnoses, accessible treatment options, and readily available support and information.

In their own words, this is why OCD Action tirelessly works to help those suffering:

“We are here because OCD tears families apart and leaves people isolated and exhausted. OCD ruins lives. It is a sad fact that many people with OCD delay seeking help. They endure it for too long, perhaps thinking that nothing can be done or simply not knowing where to turn. OCD Action believes in taking action. We want people affected by OCD to seek help, understand their treatment options, and find the support and motivation they need to fight back. OCD is treatable; it can get better.”

In 2023, the Randal Charitable Foundation provided grant funding to enable the continuation of support for people affected by OCD. This included covering the salary of a service coordinator for 1.5 days per week, as well as premises, clinical supervision, and volunteer costs.
