The Randal Foundation is pleased to support Quiet Down There, an organisation whose mission aligns closely with our objectives of providing ongoing relief from poverty and using creativity as a means to foster personal connection, community engagement, and social inclusion.
Quiet Down There operates a free laundry service at Brighton Open Market, serving individuals living in one of the top 20% most deprived areas in the country, who are experiencing hygiene poverty. This service not only provides the everyday dignity of clean clothing but also offers access to mental health support and confidence-building through regular creative activities.
The laundry project is deeply rooted in local need and informed by national research. It follows a structured programme of activities designed to deliver meaningful improvements to people’s lives in the short, medium, and long term. Since opening in 2022, the laundry has operated four days a week, providing a vital service to local residents who lack access to affordable laundry facilities. The project has been running continuously since its launch and currently operates at full capacity each week.
