Search & Rescue Relief (SARR) provides search and rescue equipment, training and grants for Non Government Organisations (NGOs) throughout the world.
The charity was formed in 2019 to support NGOs and civil rescue groups that are working to save lives and prevent drowning. They act as project managers for search and rescue humanitarian operations.
The charity oversaw the creation of the Banksy-funded vessel, the Louise Michel, to fruition and its subsequent first missions in the central Mediterranean.
They are currently supporting other projects in the central Mediterranean, such as preparing and mobilised Aurora, an ex-RNLI Trent class lifeboat, for deployment. The boat is operated by Sea-Watch e.v and has already been deployed on rescue operations.
The charity is also assisting a number of NGOs with specialist search and rescue equipment. One of these projects is orientated around three new search and rescue rigid inflatable boats (RHIBS) destined to support a larger parent vessel in the central Mediterranean.
Their new headquarters is in London, with access to the River Thames. It is currently being prepared to hold a design and fabrication centre, office and meeting space.
In 2023 the Randal Charitable Foundation provided grant funding for the provision of rescue training to volunteers, in order for them to carry out important lifesaving search and rescue work.
