Serendip is a Charity that was formed in 2009 in the aftermath of the civil war in Sri Lanka.
Their objectives are to provide long term and sustainable assistance to the most vulnerable in society, predominantly in the north and east of Sri Lanka, where people continue to experience extreme poverty and severe hardship.
The work of Serendip is critical to providing educational services to underprivileged and disabled children, as well as vocational training and support for young adults and livelihood programmes for single parent families.
The charity also provides essential food and medicines for the elderly, and provides assistance in the UK to the parents of children with special needs within the Tamil and other minority communities.
Guided by the principle to empower those around them; the Charity’s philosophy is driven by the personal views of the Board of Trustees, as well as a good understanding of what is important to supporters and beneficiaries.
In 2020 the Randal Charitable Foundation provided a grant to help the charity reduce poverty and hardship of those affected by war and social disadvantage.
