Sreepur Village

May 13, 2022

Sreepur Village is a purpose-built community 50km north from Dhaka in rural Bangladesh that was established in 1989.

We provide a refuge and safe haven for impoverished single mothers and their children where they can live for up to three years, whilst being equipped with crucial livelihood skills and knowledge to provide for themselves and their families over the long-term future.

At any one time Sreepur Village provides approximately 150 single mothers and 350 children aged 0-10 with basic needs and a secure and loving environment. Since our founding, we have provided long-term direct support to over 7,500 single mothers and children to break out of the cycle of poverty and towards financial independence, and touched the lives of tens of thousands more, all across Bangladesh.

Sreepur Village aims
1. Keeping single mothers and their children together: Due to widespread poverty, single mothers in Bangladesh often feel like they have no option but to place their children in institutional care. We are the only residential organisation in Bangladesh that offers long-term training and development to mothers while ensuring families remain together.
2. Ensuring children have a safe, happy and healthy childhood and prepare them for adolescence.
3. Empowering mothers with the skills, education and confidence needed to live independently.
4. To ensure mothers and children can overcome their traumatic pasts
