Starfish Malawi’s vision is to help create a just world where every child is educated, healthy and cared for.
The charity’s mission is to reduce extreme poverty through collaborative work within communities, schools and churches in the UK and Malawi.
Their main areas of work in Malawi are based in the districts of Salima and Kasungu (Central Malawi) and the capital Lilongwe.
Here they run twelve projects, which fit into four key focus areas for lifting communities out of extreme poverty: Christian Teaching, Education, Health and Community Development.
In 2019 The Randal Charitable Foundation provided funding to support a health care programme serving 13,000 people in an isolated rural community who lacked accessible health care. This included the provision of staff accommodation and a minibus to transport isolated children to receive treatment .
