The Randal Foundation is proud to support The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network CIC (TERN), an organisation committed to enabling refugees to thrive through the power of their own ideas. Established in 2016, TERN was founded to fulfil this mission by delivering specialist entrepreneurial and business development training specifically designed for refugee entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom. Their goal is to empower refugees to become entrepreneurs, establish businesses, and take ownership of their own futures.
TERN pursues this vision by working to make critical systems — particularly access to markets and finance — more inclusive and accessible for refugees. The organisation champions the skills and experiences of the refugee community, helping to shift public perceptions and influence mainstream institutions. TERN believes that entrepreneurship is a powerful tool through which refugees can reclaim their narratives, dismantle harmful stereotypes, and overcome the systemic barriers they encounter in the UK.
The Randal Foundation is pleased to provide funding for TERN Changemakers, a programme specifically designed to support refugee social entrepreneurs in launching and scaling their social enterprises. Building upon TERN’s industry-leading social entrepreneurship incubator, Changemakers seeks to cultivate a new generation of social businesses led by individuals from the very communities they serve.
The Changemakers initiative has already demonstrated significant success, and with the targeted investment from the Randal Foundation, TERN is poised to fundamentally transform the representation of refugee-led organisations within the UK’s social impact sector. TERN believes the Foundation’s support will be instrumental in achieving this goal.
