The King’s Trust

The Randal Foundation are delighted to be partnering with The King’s Trust as a Platinum Patron, with a grant to support their Enterprise programme. The King’s Trust (formerly known as The Prince’s Trust) is one of the largest UK youth charities which supports young people facing adversity and disadvantage into employment and self-employment opportunities. Since its foundation by His Majesty The King in 1976, The Trust has supported over 1.3 million young people, helping them to build the confidence and skills they need to succeed, no matter what challenges they are facing.

The Enterprise programme equips young entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, finance, mentors and networks they need to launch and grow their business. The programme offers free, flexible training and mentoring from business experts, as well as opportunities for participants to apply for funding to test their business idea and cover star- up costs. The focus of the programme is to support young people who face the greatest barriers to entrepreneurship and who are under-represented in the enterprise arena. This includes young female entrepreneurs, young people from minority ethnic backgrounds and young people in communities experiencing high levels of deprivation.

Each year, around 2500 young people from across the UK take part in the programme and in 2024/25, over 600 businesses were launched. This grant from The Randal Foundation will support around 210 young people through the programme over three years, with a focus on supporting young entrepreneurs from the East Midlands and Leicestershire region, as well as providing funding towards grants. By supporting The King’s Trust to reach young people who face the greatest barriers to entrepreneurship, this grant will help to create wider social impact by reducing inequalities, stimulating social mobility and boosting diverse business creation.

Ben Marson, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at The King’s Trust, says “This very generous grant from will give the opportunity for young people to start businesses that can change their life. With almost one million young people currently not in education, employment or training in the UK, our work at The King’s Trust is needed now more than ever and this grant will play a vital role in helping to end youth unemployment and set young people up on the pathway to success.

This support from The Randal Foundation comes at an important moment in our history as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary.  It is thanks to supporters like The Randal Foundation, who share our ambition and vision, that The Trust can continue to give more young people the chance to transform their lives now and in the next 50 years to come. Thank you for believing in young people’s potential.”
