The Randal Foundation is proud to support the Martin Gallier Project who are a suicide prevention, intervention and postvention charity dedicated to preventing suicide, breaking down stigma and supporting families. They support those with suicidal ideation, bereavement or supporting a loved one with suicidal ideation from ages 16 and above. They have no waiting list, criteria or barriers to access. Their goal is to provide someone struggling to choose between life and death a third option – safety for now, until they feel able to confirm safety from suicide indefinitely. As an immediate suicide intervention service, they require a first intervention worker in order to provide each and every referral with a comprehensive suicide safety plan within at least 24 hours of referral. This ensures that all of their clients are given the immediate support they need and deserve, whilst pairing up client with the most appropriate long-term suicide intervention worker, according to their personal circumstances, needs and triggers.
The grant funding will cover the cost of employing a highly trained suicide intervention worker for one year. This lifesaving position is filled by someone who has extensive experience in the field, and are trained to a gold-standard through the ASIST suicide training by LivingWorks. In addition, their charity has their own training for suicide intervention workers, so that their first intervention worker feels able, supported and confident to create comprehensive suicide safety plans with any client they see.
