Our Trustees

The work of the Randal Charitable Foundation is governed by the Board of Trustees.

The Trustees are responsible for ensuring charities, voluntary and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), which align with the Foundation’s objectives, receive the grant funding they need by the stringent reviewing and approving of appropriate applications.

All of the Trustees are volunteers who bring with them a wide-range of philanthropic, charitable, commercial, financial, legal skills and experience.

They ensure the Foundation carries out the purposes for which it was set up, in accordance with UK charity law and all governing processes, to further the public benefit.

All grant giving activities are guided by a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), which ensures each application is considered fairly, in accordance with our strict guidelines and objectives. All successful applications are required to provide regular monitoring information to ensure all grant funding directly delivers the purpose(s) of the agreed activities.

As with all charities in England and Wales, the Foundation is registered and regulated by the Charity Commission and our UK registered charity number is 1176129.

Meet Our Trustees

"The Randal Charitable Foundation’s primary focus is to directly save lives. We consider a person whose life is directly saved, is a life that was at serious and credible risk of loss before the provision of grant funding; and as a result of expenditure of the grant funding directly or indirectly for the benefit of the individual, has significantly lowered the risk of loss of life."

Dr Nik Kotecha OBE, Chair of Trustees

Dr Nik Kotecha OBE Ph.D, DIC, FRSC, CCHEM

Founder Trustee & Chairman

A word from our Founder & Chairman:

“As a young child my family became refugees and I still remember what it felt like to be hungry and homeless. We lost our complete way of life and were very fortunate to be given a new home in the United Kingdom. During this time my family became separated for several months and it was with the help of an international Aid organisation that we were reunited.

With a very humble upbringing, I was fortunate to receive a local County Council grant, which enabled me to attend university, and from there to forge a career. This led me to establishing Morningside Pharmaceuticals from our home garage and travelling extensively around the world as it grew form a start-up to a large corporate over 30 years.

From my childhood and business experiences I have followed my passion for helping others, giving back and have worked extensively with large UN Aid agencies, charities and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to provide international Aid to lower and middle income countries. I have also been privileged to take on a number of board and advisory positions for business, government and charitable bodies in the UK. Through this work I have seen many opportunities in the UK and globally, to save and improve lives.

These life experiences and our passion for helping to save lives globally, led to my wife Moni and I to founding the Randal Charitable Foundation in 2017. Our ambition with the Foundation is to save and significantly improve the quality of life of over 1 million people around the world.

Please get in touch if the work of your organisation matches our objectives for charitable support. Moreover, if you would like to pledge support for the work of the Foundation then we would also very much like to hear from you."
