Warning Zone is a Leicester based charity dedicated to teaching life-skills and safeguarding children.
The charity’s mission is to deliver life-saving messages to children aged 10-11, catching them on a key transition in their lives as they venture into secondary schools, where they will meet new friends and are introduced to new experiences.
At this age, children are given more independence and will be responsible for their actions, behaviours and decisions they make; both in their day-to-day life and online.
At Warning Zone’s state-of-the-art Life Sciences Skills Centre, they aim to educate young people on understanding risks, peer pressure, anti-social behaviour and consequences.
With the Internet and online presence being so widely accessed from a young age, their new E-Safety Zone educates children on cyber-bullying, grooming, scammers and much more.
In 2021 the Randal Charitable Foundation provided a significant grant to Warning Zone for engagement with children and young people about the risks associated with cyber and the internet, which will fund 1,630 high quality training sessions in a specialised, safe and interactive environment. Funding will also be provided towards improvements to the Life Sciences Skills Centre.
The centre launched in 2006 and delivers crucial messages from personal to online safety through stimulating and memorable experiences, helping to prepare youngsters for increased independence and their transition into early adolescence.
Located on Frog Island in Leicester, the core programme aims to provide knowledge and understanding of risk, consequence of actions, peer pressure and personal responsibility.
Presenting the real risks of life for children growing through to teenage years, delivered in an honest, compassionate and understandable way in order to encourage responsible behaviour and sound decision making while living full and active lives.
